Tubby and
Cats Ready for Season
 Lexington, Ky. (AP) - Tubby Smith and the Wildcats are
anxious to begin the 2002-2003 basketball season.
Kentucky will begin their season against team
EA Sports in Rupp arena. Kentucky has decided however not to attend this years Maui
Invitational. "We are not going to participate in this years Maui tournament"
said Smith. "We have a very difficult out of conference schedule to play and we do
not want to burn out our kids early this year. We have Duke, North Carolina, Louisville,
Oklahoma and Notre Dame just to name a few early season opponents. By having our schedule
loaded up front, this will better show where we are at as a team and also prepare us for
SEC conference play." added Smith.
When coach Smith was
asked about how he felt about this year’s team compared to last years team Smith said
"I feel like this years team will play harder and more as an unit compared to last
years club. Our kid are focused more on the team concept of winning as a team and losing
as a team."
